Brisbane is een belangrijke stad in noordoostelijk Australië. Het is de hoofdstad van de deelstaat Queensland en ligt vlakbij Moreton Bay.
Het is een spectaculaire stad, in tweeën gedeeld door de rivier Brisbane, aan de voet van het gebergte Cootha. Daar vindt u het Planetarium en de Botanische Tuinen. En als u naar het uitzichtpunt op de top gaat, zult u een prachtig zicht op de stad en de rivier hebben.
Enkele van de attracties zijn: het Brisbane Museum; Queensland Gallery of Modern Art; en het Conrad Treasury Casino, een interessant historisch gebouw.
Ten noorden van de stad ligt Fraser Island, waar u per boot naar toe kunt.
In het Park New Farm kunt u typische lokale producten proeven. In het commercieel centrum The Queen Street Mall, een van de grootste van Australië, vindt u alle belangrijke winkels en merken, evenals een keur aan restaurants, bars en cafés.
Een ander commercieel centrum, iets traditioneler, is Paddington, waar ‘s avonds een aangename atmosfeer is. Ook Brunswick Street is een gebied met goede winkels.
Andere aanraders zijn Zoo Alma Park en het kunststrand South Bank, gratis toegankelijk, waar vele recreatieve activiteiten mogelijk zijn. In de oude stadskern liggen het Raadhuis en King George Square, zeker een bezoek waard.
