Grand Bahama is een van de voornaamste eilanden van de archipel van de Bahamas en ligt op 90 km van de kust van Florida, in de Caraïben.
De hoofdstad is Freeport Lucaya en geniet internationale faam dankzij de casino’s, resorts, magnifieke stranden en de natuurlijke schoonheid. Bovendien is het een paradijs om te winkelen want dit is belastingvrij gebied. Het nachtleven is er bruisend.
Hier kunt u talrijke activiteiten doen, zoals watersport (en dan vooral koraalriffen ontdekken en zwemmen met dolfijnen), golf, tennis, fietsen, paardrijden, parasailing en nog veel meer.
U kunt ook de exotische flora en fauna bewonderen in Lucayan National Park; of de in de kalksteen gevormde grotten en tunnels ontdekken. Breng ook een bezoek aan Hydroflora Gardens en Parrot Jungle's Garden.
Een andere optie is een tocht langs de schilderachtige kleine dorpen. Of interessante steden bezoeken als West End, Ocho Millas Rock en McLean’s Town.
Langs de betegelde straten van de internationale bazaar vindt u talrijke restaurants en uitstekende winkels die verschillende landen vertegenwoordigen. Een andere interessante wandeling is Port Lucayna Marketplace, met live evenementen (op Count Basie Square). Ook de zeeboulevard is erg de moeite waard, want daarvandaan ziet u de luxueuze jachten in de haven.
Er is een grote keuze aan hotels en restaurants, zoals u die alleen maar in een spectaculaire toeristische bestemming zult verwachten.
