Cayo Coco (Coco Key) is a magical region in central Cuba.
Located in the north of the Ciego de Avila province, it belongs to a group of islands called “Jardines del Rey”, or King's Gardens. The region is in full expansion given the growing number of tourists who come to see its well-known beauty.
The crystal-clear and warm waters of Cayo Coco are home to one of the most important barrier reefs on the planet, nearly 400 km long. The place shelters some of the most fascinating marine species, and so diving here is highly recommended. The natural surroundings offer visitors the most stunning landscapes, populated by a rich variety of birds that visit Cayo Coco's small islands. These birds include the White Ibis (or Coco Bird), of bright colours, and a number of flocks of flamingos.
Mangrove swamps and coconut palms surround the 22 kilometres of wonderful beaches. Some of the best are Coloradas, Jaula and Los Flamencos.
