Morelia is een Mexicaanse stad in de staat Michoacán en is daar ook de hoofdstad van.
In de stad zijn vele mogelijkheden. Het interessantste is wel de oude stadskern, waar de kathedraal uit 1660 staat, gebouwd in een prachtige Barok stijl. U kunt ook de Plaza de Armas (het centrale stadsplein) bezoeken, uit 1541, een van de oudste plekken in de stad. We adviseren u ook het Universitair Cultureel Centrum te bezoeken (waar diverse tentoonstellingen zijn); de Tempel van de Merced, uit 1604; het Stadhuis; het Museum van Michoacán, met vele collecties; de Oude Graanbeurs (Antigua Alhóndiga); of de Tempel van de Augustijnen, uit de 16e eeuw.
Het Geboortehuis van Morelos is een van de voornaamste attracties in Morelia: hier werd in 1765 José María Morelos geboren, een van de nationale onafhankelijkheidstrijders van Mexico.
Morelia is ook leuk voor de kleintjes. De Dierentuin Benito Juárez wordt als de belangrijkste van Mexico beschouwd dankzij de vele soorten dieren.
