Saltillo is de hoofdstad van de Mexicaanse deelstaat Coahuila.
Het oude stadscentrum ligt rond het Ojo de Agua en het plein Plaza México. Vlakbij ligt de prachtige kathedraal Santiago, gebouwd in diverse stijlen, en daar tegenover, het regeringsgebouw Palacio de Gobierno, opgetrokken in roze steen. Binnen bevinden zich de muurschilderingen van Almaraz en Tarazona. Het voormalige exercitieterrein Plaza de Armas is eveneens omgeven door mooie koloniale gebouwen, zoals het Casino van Saltillo; het Instituut voor de Cultuur van Coahuila; het Recinto Juárez en de Casa Purcell. Niet ver hier vandaan bevindt zich het Vogelmuseum. U kunt ook een bezoek brengen aan de Alameda Zaragoza, met prachtige tuinen, fonteinen en monumenten. Er is tevens een bibliotheek binnen het park. Breng ook een bezoek aan het Theater van Saltillo, een imposant gebouw, de gevel is versierd met Griekse en Romeinse motieven. Voor echte natuur moet u naar de Canyon San Lorenzo, waar u rappel kunt doen. In de bossen Bosques de Monterreal kunt u zelfs skiën op kunstsneeuw.
Er zijn ook vele restaurants, bars en kunstnijverheidswinkels, met traditionele weefgetouwen. Bezoek eens de markt Mercado Juárez. En om van het nachtleven te genieten: de beste plekken zijn de boulevards Venustiano Carranza en Jesús Valdés Sánchez.
