Tampico is een stad in Mexico, waar een van de belangrijkste havens van het land ligt. Tampico ligt aan de rivier de Pánuco, vlakbij de monding in de Golf van Mexico.
Het voornaamste strand van Tampico es Miramar, met fijn wit zand en nauwelijks golven, ideaal voor diverse watersporten. Er worden ook viscompetities gehouden.
Midden in de stad ligt de lagune Laguna del Capintero, met een rijke flora en fauna, waar in een aangrenzend stuk ook een Internationale Jetski Competitie wordt gehouden. Ten westen daarvan ligt het ecologisch park van de lagune El Chairel, waar het mogelijk is te roeien, in een kano te varen en zelfs te vissen. De bron van de rivier de Mante is een prima plek om te snorkelen of te duiken, er zijn daar ondergelopen grotten.
In Tampico is mooie architectuur te zien, zoals de neoclassicistische kathedraal Inmaculada Concepción; het voormalige Raadhuis en de voormalige Douane, allen in art nouveau stijl.
Er zijn twee theaters met interessante evenementen: het Metropolitano en het Experimental. Er zijn ook heerlijke lokale schotels te proeven, zoals vlees à la Tampiqueña, of gevulde Jaiba’s, en genoeg restaurants om ze te vinden.
