Ko Chang en Trat liggen in het oosten van Thailand. Trat is het doorgangspunt om naar de archipel van Ko Chang te gaan. Maar het is tevens een stad met veel markten, waar mooie edelstenen te koop zijn en waar u de traditionele Nam Prik Pao schotel kunt proeven, met een heerlijke vissaus. Ook is er een overdadig aanbod aan verse zeevruchten en tropisch fruit.
Om te overnachten zijn er uitstekende guesthouses, en hoewel er niet een al te groot aanbod aan hotels is, zijn de beschikbare hotels uiterst comfortabel. In de regio bevinden zich 52 eilanden. Ko Chang is het grootste daarvan, met het hele jaar door een ideale temperatuur. De beste periode voor een bezoek is van november tot april.
Het binnenland van het eiland bestaat uit oerwoud, met hoge bergen, watervallen en een schilderachtige vegetatie. De kust bestaat uit witte zandstranden met kristalhelder water en kleine baaitjes, koraalriffen die ideaal zijn om te duiken en paradijselijke landschappen waar u kunt overnachten in bungalows die aan het strand liggen, evenals hutten, suites en luxueuze appartementen, nooit ver van goede restaurants, bars en discotheken voor al het nodige vertier.
Absolute aanraders zijn de waterval Than Mayom en de baai Salak Phet. Andere mooie eilanden in deze archipel zijn: Ko Wai; Ko Lao en Ko Kre.
