Bodrum is een havenstad in de provincie Mugla, in het zuidwesten van de regio Egea, in Turkije.
Dit is een bestemming die bekend staat in de hele wereld als de ideale plek voor watersportactiviteiten, zoals zeilen en varen in het algemeen. De stad bestaat uit twee toeristische delen: in het oostelijke deel liggen de stranden, bars en restaurants, kortom het is het meest actieve deel van de plaats waar zich ook de nachtclubs bevinden; het westelijke deel is meer gericht op het zeilen en varen, en hier is het dan ook wat rustiger, u kunt er heerlijk door de schilderachtige straten wandelen.
Bodrum ligt waar vroeger de stad Halikarnassus was. Daarom bezit de plaats een rijk cultureel erfgoed, waaronder het beroemde Mausoleum van Halikarnassus, een van de Zeven Wereldwonderen. Nadat het indrukwekkende mausoleum verwoest werd door een aardbeving, zijn veel bouwmaterialen ervan gebruikt voor de bouw in 1402 van het kasteel van Bodrum. Dit is een van de meest typische plekken in Bodrum. Binnen het kasteel bevindt zich het Museum van Onderwaterarcheologie.
