Bedford is the county town of Bedfordshire in England.
This historical town, which is set on the banks of the River Ouse, is located near London, Oxford and Cambridge.
There is much to see and do in Bedford including some interesting museums and art galleries. Perhaps the most important is the Bedford Museum, located in the former Higgins and Sons brewery; this museum is surrounded by the picturesque gardens of Bedford Castle.
Over the years, the town has been associated with many famous people. The writer and preacher John Bunyan, the Archbishop Trevor Huddleston and the comedian Ronnie Barker were born here, and residents have included Glenn Miller and his band, during the Second World War, and John Howard.
Pleasant parks and gardens give this town an attractive, natural feel and here you can wander among flowers, plants and lovely ancient buildings. However, the place has all the modern comforts too, with quality hotels, pubs and restaurants.
