El Paso is een stad in het zuiden van Texas, in de VS, op de grens met Mexico. De rivier Rio Bravo vormt de scheidingslijn met de Mexicaanse stad Juárez.
Het Franklingebergte, met een maximale hoogte van 2192 meter, deelt de stad bijna in tweeën. Met de kabelbaan kunt u van een schitterend uitzicht genieten.
Aanraders zijn de Dierentuin; het Museum Fort Bliss; het Museum War Eagles; en op de Plaza de los Lagartos (Hagedissenplein) vindt u het beeld dat tevens symbool van de stad is.
U kunt er het indianenreservaat van de Tigua’s bezoeken; de missies in Socorro en San Elizario; het Geschiedenismuseum; het Science Museum Insights; Chamizal National Memorial; Viva El Paso; het Internationale Kunstmuseum; en de attractieparken Western Playland, en Wet and Wild Water World.
De sportliefhebbers zullen genieten in Sunland Park Racetrack. Er zijn ook uitstekende golfbanen. Andere mogelijkheden zijn: fietsen; paardrijden; vissen; skiën; trekking; excursies maken of gewoon ontspannen wandelen en de prachtige landschappen observeren.
Het is de moeite waard de 230 kilometer ten oosten van El Paso gelegen grotten te bezoeken, het Carlsbad Caverns National Park, die het grootste grottencomplex ter wereld vormen. Ook een bezoek aan de Mexicaanse stad Ciudad Juárez is interessant.
